Student Scholarships

A limited number of student scholarships are available to help defray the costs of participating in the workshop and short course.

 Student scholarships cover expenses related to workshop attendance, up to a maximum level. Funds spent beyond the stated award must be covered by other sources. Travel reimbursements will be awarded competitively based on a student’s proposed level of participation in the workshop (paper presentation, poster presentation, or attendance only) and a letter of recommendation from the student’s research advisor. Priority will be given to those students who are presenting material at the workshop.

All expenses must be covered by the student prior to and during the workshop. Scholarships will be provided by reimbursement following your return from the workshop. To obtain this reimbursement, you will be required to fill out a Travel Authority form prior to the workshop and a Travel Expense Summary (TES) following the workshop. Please keep all receipts (except meal receipts) – these will be required to complete the TES. In general, travel reimbursement will be made for the following expenses:

    * Travel (air, train, taxi, bus, airport parking, rental car, parking, etc.)
    * Accommodation
    * Workshop registration
    * Short course registration
    * Meals other than those provided by the workshop

Student Application Process

Students interested in attending the workshop should complete the following process:

  1. Register for the workshop and submit payment.
  2. If you plan on presenting a paper or poster, submit an abstract for acceptance. If you are attending only and are not presenting any material, skip this step.
  3. Fill out the Student Scholarship Application Form.
  4. Request a letter of recommendation from your research advisor.
  5. Send one email containing both the completed Student Scholarship Application Form and your advisor’s letter of recommendation to the appropriate contact:
        U.S. Students - Professor Periklis Papadopoulos
        International Students – Ed Chester
    Email subject line should read: IPPW6 Student Scholarship Last Name, First Name

You will be notified via email if your abstract has been approved and if you have qualified for a student travel scholarship.
